Professional uniforms used in laboratory

Laboratory coats have become an important laboratory “professional uniform”. – keeping the wearer clean and offering some protection from light liquid splash and other workplace hazards.

Laboratory uniforms are constructed from a variety of materials and come in two types: reusable and disposable.

Reusable uniforms are usually made of washable cotton or a cotton/polyester blend with sewn seams. Disposable uniforms are made from non woven material with stitch seams, or welded seams. they may be worn more than once but are usually discarded or recycled when they become damaged or soiled.

Both reusable and disposable uniforms are of the similar styles:

Necklines may be collarless or have notched lapel or mandarin collars;

Most are front-closing using buttons, snaps, or other closures

Unisex styling is common, as are male and female styles;

Typically full length, lab coats are available in other lengths;

They often have three pockets: one breast and two near the lower front;

Uniforms often white or blue, but are available in other colors.
